The hugely popular K-pop group BTS (Bangtan Boys) has set a new record on YouTube with their newest music video ‘ON‘ becoming the largest YouTube Premieres video of all time. This past Thursday, the group BTS released their music video for their song ‘ON’ and there were just over 1.54 million viewers watching, all at the same time. It was released through a service known as YouTube Premieres. YouTube Premieres lets someone and their viewers watch and experience a new video all together. It’s like a movie or TV show premiere. Premiering a video through the service lets the user schedule a video upload and create buzz around the video with a shareable watch page. It’s pretty insane to think that over one and a half million people logged onto the service to see the release of the new music video. The video was actuualy the second ‘version’ of the song being released on video. First was dance-heavy video which was called “‘ON’ Kinetic Manifesto Film: Come Prima” and received over 45 million views in the first 24 hours of its release. Another one of their music videos, “Boy With Luv”, which features Halsey, actually owns the title for the number one biggest 24 hour YouTube debut. With all this good news for BTS, things did take a slightly bad turn when they were just recently forced to cancel part of their tour in South Korea due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 coronavirus.
