The past two years, at least for me, have been quite a time for losses in the music industry. I don’t have the time or the energy to go through all the tremendous losses we have suffered in all corners of music, but just within the past few days we had 2 icons from my childhood / young life years pass away. First was Malcolm Young, rhythm guitarist and half brainchild of the Rock band AC/DC. Malcolm Young was undoubtedly one of the greatest rhythm guitarist in rock and has written so much music with his brother Angus Young, that his legacy his gargantuan. Almost anyone in music will tell you the same thing. Malcolm had experienced dementia a handful of years back and had to bow out of touring with the band, and leave the music scene all together. AC/DC will never be the same without Malcolm Young, he was a huge driving force behind all of their music.
Then just a couple of days later, we hear that David Cassidy (from the hit Television show The Partridge Family) is in the process of organ failure. It is known that Cassidy has had a problem with alcohol for sometime, and was warned by many that he must stop drinking if he wants to live. He could NOT beat the beast, for those of you that know, it’s VERY VERY hard to stop. Addiction is a horrendous thing. David Cassidy stayed in organ failure but was somewhat conscious. Several FALSE reports of his death were put out a bit early and the news agencies had to retract their statements. But it seemed inevitable and a day or so later, his family released the news that he had passed away.
These were just 2 amazing, tremendously influencial people in music that recently passed away. I’m still reeling from Chris Cornell, David Bowie, Chester Bennington, Prince (some of these were more than a year ago) and more … It’s been a rough few years for musicians and their fans.

Malcolm Young of AC/DC and David Cassidy are just 2 recent musician deaths that have rocked the music world.
