The day is coming sooner than you think. Elton John already publicly stated that his present tour will be his last ever, and to be honest, I believe him. There have been plenty of failed ‘farewell’ tours by many different entertainers and bands which eventually turned out to not be true. Some ‘final’ tours that turned out weren’t the last include treks by the rock band KISS, Cher, The Eagles, The German rock band Scorpions, The Who, Jay-Z, Phil Collins and even Frank Sinatra. Elton John’s final performance over in the UK takes place on June 25th, 2023 and it takes place at the Glastonbury Festival which is located in Somerset, England UK. Other performers include Cat Stevens, Lana Del Ray, Guns N’ Roses, Arctic Monkeys, Lizzo, Blondie, Fatboy Slim, along with dozens and dozens more.

After the Glastonbury performance, Elton John only has 7 (seven) more concerts dates on his plate. In all actuality, Elton John personally does not like performing at large festivals. In a very recent interview, Elton stated there’s “too many people” and that this Glastonbury appearance was the only one he ever considered doing. Elton said “I don’t like crowds. I have played festivals and I’ve really enjoyed them. But of course, Glastonbury is the crème de la crème. It’s the first time I’ve been asked to play it, I haven’t turned it down before. But it’s just come at the right time. I’m a great believer in serendipity and fate and this is the most wonderful way to sign off in England and Great Britain.

Earlier this year however Elton said “I’m not going to tour again” but quickly added “There may be the odd show…“. So while a full tour will never happen again (according to Elton John himself), there is hope that he will do a one off concert here and there. At least this gives fans some hope of still seeing him perform live in concert. Elton’s last statement when asked about his last show taking place shortly, he responded “It’s The Most Wonderful Way To Sign Off“.
